OUR

STORY

BearMakes is a creative practice based on the West Coast of Scotland, set up by architect and maker Anna Wynne

Anna qualified as an Architect in London in 2009, having previously studied in Vancouver, the Czech Republic and Brighton. Her practice draws on a practical knowledge of traditional and non-traditional making techniques. She has blacksmithing, carving and leather-work skills alongside, a practical knowledge of Scottish and English heritage construction methods, and experience of working in the construction industry. Bear Makes aims to combine these influences to produce experiences, products and buildings that are life enhancing, materially sensitive and enduring.

Along side green wood carving, Anna is currently working on a range of  domestic scale and renovation projects in Argyll, whilst researching building detailing and materials for extreme/exposed weather environments. In addition the practice is working with traditional construction materials looking at ‘breathing structures’ using lime-hemp insulation on solid stone walls.

Between architecture and making Anna is a mum to two lively boys, married to a proper geek and a member of her local Mountain Rescue Team.
