BearMakes's competition entry to design a mountaineering refuge hut for Nepal, to be used at high level camps, replacing some of the unsustainable and limited existing facilities.

 

A technical project, with interesting material selection importance due to climate conditions, local material availability and remote location logistics, as well as a requirement to be self-sufficient and off-grid.

A structure of bolted glulam elements with super insulated aluminium and cork panels and yak dung-biomass heated. Structure form inspired by technical tent frames.
